Black Dancer. Representation matters. It’s important to see representation on television, in advertising, in the workplace, and in the real world. This series lets black people tell the world “I’m black and I do this.” It may just inspire someone to follow their dream.

This powerful image is a portrait of an actual sun mask, originally from the Bobo/Bwa peoples of Burkina Faso. Representing the sun, such masks are danced in praise of agricultural fecundity. An original photograph by artist/photographer ehpizer, from her Ethnographic Art Image Series.
