The arapaima, pirarucu, or paiche is any large species of bonytongue in the genus Arapaima native to the Amazon and Essequibo basins of South America. Genus Arapaima is the type genus of the family Arapaimidae. They are among the world's largest freshwater fish, reaching as much as 3 m.

It is a member of the cichlid family and is native to the lower Xingu River which is located in the Amazon River Basin, South America. This predatory feeds on fish and other marine life. It can reach a maximum length of 36 cm (14 inches).

A favourite of many,; walks like a duck on land and swims like a dolphin in water; the Hippo is one of the most dangerous animals there is.

It is a medium sized fish of the family Serrasalmidae. It is native the Amazon River basin, as well as, the north and the eastern Guiana Shield Rivers in South America. During the rainy season when growth is maximal, it feeds on fruits and consumes the seeds of palm trees and other plants. It can grow to a length of 40.7 cm (16.0 in) and has a maximum weight of 5kg (11 lbs).

It is also known as the Vampire fish and is a member of the dogtooth tetra family. It is a predatory fish that is native to the Amazon River basin in South America. It can reach up to 1.17m (3.8 ft) in total length and 17.8 kg (39 lb) in weight (based on IGFA records).

It is a member of the Cichlid Family and can be found in South America from the Pacific slope of the Esmeraldas River in Ecuador to the Tumbes River in Peru. This includes parts of the Amazon River basin. It is an inherently aggressive fish. The maximum length attained is 20cm (about 8in). All profits from sale will be given to the Lighthouse Mission to assist the homeless.

It is a member of the Brycon family and is native to rivers in Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana including the Amazon and Orinoco River basins in South America. They are omnivores, eating both fish and plants. It has a maximum length of 48.9cm (about 19 in) and a max published weight of 2.7 kg (about 6 pounds).

It is also known as the black-banded Leporinus and is native to the Amazon Basin in South America. Its diet comprises vegetative matter as well as other fish, worms, and crustaceans. They can reach 30 centimeters (12in) in length.

It is a member of the Serrasalmidae family and is found in the Amazon and Orinoco basins in South America. The adults are typically found in rapidly flowing water where they feed on aquatic plants and algae. They can reach up to 32.2 cm (1.06 ft) in length.

It is also known as the anjumara, traíra, trahira and it is a predatory fish feeding on fish and shell fish. It is native to most rivers basins, including the Amazon river basin, in northern South America and the island of Trinidad. Its maximum recorded length is about length of 120 cm (47 in) and they can weigh as much as 40 kg (88 lb). All profits from sale will be given to the Lighthouse Mission to assist the homeless.

It is a member of the Anostomidae (Headstanders) family and is native to the Amazon, Paraná-Paraguay and São Francisco River basins in South America. Piava can be a number of different species the species that’s depicted is Leporellus vittatus. It exhibits certain differences in color pattern depending on population and or location. It is a plant eater and its habitat is weedy areas near the bottom. It can reach a maximum length of 30cm (about 12 inches).

Salminus brasiliensis (dourado, dorado, golden dorado, river tiger or jaw characin) is a large, predatory characiform freshwater fish found in central and east-central South America.

It is a member of the Ghost Knifefish family and is native to the Amazon river basin in Venezuela, Guianas and Brazil, South America. It uses its snout to forage for food under rocks and brush. It can reach a maximum length of 47cm (about 19 inches).

It is a species of long-whiskered catfish native to the Amazon basin, in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. It can reach a maximum of 140 cm (55 in) in total length.

It is a large species of pacu and is a close relative of piranhas and is locally called Pirapitinga. It is native to the Amazon basin in tropical South America. It mainly feeds on fruits, seeds, and nuts. It can reach up to 88 cm (2.9 ft) in length and 25 kg (55 lb) in weight. It is a member of the Serrasalmidae family and is native to the Amazon and Orinoco basins of South America. It regularly reaches an age of 40 years and may reach up to 65 and mainly feeds on fruit and seeds. It can reach up to 1.1m (3.6 ft) in total length and 44 kg (97 lb) in weight.

They are known for their ability to stun their prey by generating electricity, delivering shocks at up to 860 volts. Despite their name, it is not closely related to the true eels but are members of the electroreceptive neotropical knifefish order, which is more closely related to the catfish. They can grow to a maximum length of 250 cm (about 8 feet) and a maximum published weight: 20.0 kg (about 44 lbs).

It is a member of the Trahiras family. It is native toCentral and South America in the São Francisco, Amazon, Paraná, Orinoco and Magdalena River basins, and coastal rivers in Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. It can reach a maximum length of 28.5cm (about 11 inches).

It is also known as the black piranha, white piranha, spotted piranha or yellow piranha. They are found in the drainage systems of the Amazon and Orinoco as well as the Essequibo River and other rivers of the Guiana Shield and the coastal rivers of northeastern Brazil. It is one of the larger species of piranha with a maximum recorded length of 41.5 centimeters (16.3 in) and they attain a maximum weight of 3.0 kilograms (6.6 lb).

It is native to the Amazon river basin in South America. It is migratory, moving between different parts of the Amazon. It is one of the major food sources for local inhabitants. It can reach a maximum length of 45 cm (18 in) and 1.2 kg (2.6 lb) in weight

It is a member of the Pristidae family and is found worldwide in tropical and subtropical coastal regions, but also enters freshwater rivers. It is a predator that feeds on fish, mollusks and crustaceans. The "saw" can be used both to stir up the bottom to find prey and to slash at groups of fish. It has declined drastically and is now critically endangered. A typical length is 2 – 2.5 m (6.6 –8.2 ft). Large individuals may weigh as much as 500 – 600 kg (1,102 – 1,323 lb), or possibly even more. Freshwater species are usually smaller in size.

Turtles

It is a member of the cichlid family and in is native to the Amazon River Basin in South America. Eartheater is a common name and the species depicted is Geophagus altifrons. It is benthophagous by nature, taking mouthfuls of substrate (hence its common name) and sifting for edible items, with the remaining materials being expelled via the mouth and gill openings. It prefers clear and backwater environments. It can a reach a maximum length of 26.5cm (about 10.4 inches).

It is a member of the Serrasalmidae (Piranhas and pacus) family and are found in deep, white water and juveniles are in usually shallow black waters of lagoons. It is native to the Amazon and Orinoco River basins in South America. It can reach a maximum length of 30 cm (about 12 inches).

It is a member of the Semaprochilodus genus and its species name is Semaprochilodus brama. Its common name is Jaraqui, however, that’s the common name given to the Semaprochilodus genus. It is native to the Amazon River Basin, specifically, the Tocantins and Xingu River basins in Brazil. It can reach a maximum length of 54cm (about 21in) with maximum published weight of 2.6kg (about 6 pounds).
