Lord Banquo, the Thane of Lochaber, is a character in William Shakespeare's play Macbeth. In the play, he is at first an ally to Macbeth and they meet the Three Witches together.

The Abbey Mill in the ancient town of Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire. It stands on a stretch nof the River Avon appropriately called the Mill Avon. Although now residential, the mill started life in about 1190 asd the corn mill for the nearby abbey. It is said that the monks excavated the Mill Avon - joining further on with the River Severn - to drive the water wheel. It was then rebuilt in 1793 and had four uindershot wheels - the remains of one still in evidence. It ceased working in 1920. Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200

Hotwells, Bristol Number of views as of 14th June 2018 = 390. Hotwells is a district of the city of Bristol (Avon, England), located just west of the city centre and south of the suburb of Clifton. The stretch of water in the foreground is part of Bristol's Floating Harbour, constructed in the early 19th century to allow ships to access Bristol Docks, unrestricted by the tidal ebbs and flows of the River Avon. Hotwells gets its name from the warm springs which bubble up through the rocks of the Avon Gorge underneath the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Date: 18th February 2014.

A digital painting from my original photograph of the scene above the lock at Aldermaston Wharf on the Kennet and Avon Canal (or Navigation) in Berkshire. A lovely tranquil scene - hard to imagine the industry here over 100 years ago! Then the whole area was busy with working canal canal boats loading and unloading their cargoes. Here too were the workshops and forges necessary for the running of the canal.

Pulteney Bridge in Bath, illuminated at twilight and reflecting in the River Avon. Pulteney Bridge, together with the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, is one of the world's most beautiful bridges and surely the most romantic. Like the Ponte Vecchio it is one of a handful of historic bridges in the world with shops built into it. It was built for William Pulteney by Robert Adam in an attempt to connect central Bath to land on the other bank of the River Avon.

A colorful distressed design for a beautiful day on the OBX.

A boat on the Mill Avon River at Tewkwsbury, Gloucestershire passing under Quay Bridge. This is a cast iron and sandstone structure dating from 1822 and is now Grade 2 listed. The Mill Avon dates way back to the C12th when Benedictine monks from nearby Tewkesbury Abbey diverted the course of the River Avon to turn the wheel of its water mill. Following the direction the boat is heading, the Avon is navigable all the way to Shakespeare's Stratford where it joins the Stratford on Avon Canal. Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre (RST) is a 1,040+ seat thrust stage theatre owned by the Royal Shakespeare Company dedicated to the British playwright and poet William Shakespeare. It is located in the town of Stratford-upon-Avon – Shakespeare's birthplace – in the English Midlands, beside the River Avon. The Royal Shakespeare and Swan Theatres re-opened in November 2010 after undergoing a major renovation . The Royal Shakespeare and Swan Theatres are on the western bank of the River Avon, with the adjacent Bancroft Gardens providing a scenic riverside setting. Blake's 7 Redemption

The Abbey Mill Weir on the River Avon at Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. This is at the end of the navigable section of the Mill Avon, an extension to the River Avon constructed by the Abbey's monks in the C12th. This provided power for the Abbey Mill which at one time apparently had four wheels! The weir as we see it now helps control flood water and ithe sluices are controlled from the white building on the right of the image. The mill itself closed in 1921 and is now private apartments. An early morning view of the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge. The bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Avon Gorge and the River Avon, linking Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset. Since opening in 1864, it has been a toll bridge. The bridge is built to a design by William Henry Barlow and John Hawkshaw, based on an earlier design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
