Fushimi Inari Taisha is a Shinto shrine located in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan. This shrine is the central shrine for around 40,000 Inari shrines. The main shrine is located at the foot of Mount Inari and the shrine's grounds include a mountain that is 233 meters high.

I went to Japan a few years ago. I fell in love yith the country and I want to share the beauty in my own way. On the second day of my journey I went to a temple in Kyoto near our hotel. I took a lot of photo’s there and I still love the fox shrines and torii’s there.

Standing just above Ravadas Falls in Lemmenjoki National Park, the largest national park in Finland. This waterfall was stunning from all angles, and in the hour I had before the boat came back for the return trip down the Lemmenjoki River, I had to rush around like mad to get as many different compositions as I could! I also used my new Lee Filters Big Stopper for this shot, and I'm pretty happy with the results.

Ravadas Falls crashes downhill in its rush to get to the Lemmenjoki River beyond. This is an easy day trip, despite the fact that it's located 19km into Lemmenjoki National Park; boats run twice daily so you can either go and walk around the falls for an hour or have a full day to hike 15-20km through some of the best scenery the park has to offer.

A Shinto Priest tending to his daily tasks moves between shrines early in the morning. A wet steamy day, he keeps dry with a wonderful white umbrella. His stark white robes stand out against the deep vermillion of the Torii gates.

The midnight sun sitting well above the horizon at Lake Menesjärvi, near Lemmenjoki National Park in Finnish Lapland. I had two nights here and both nights had amazing clouds and midnight sun. I couldn't have asked for more!

The gorgeous old Pielpajärvi Wilderness Church, located about a 4.5km hike away from the town of Inari. This church used to be in the centre of the main settlement in Inari. Now, the only part of that settlement that is left is the Wilderness Church, which has fortunately been kept in great condition. And why do I say "all hail" the church? Well, that menacing cloud arrived very shortly after I took this photo, and before I knew what was happening, hail was bouncing off the ground all around me!

For me, it's hard to think of summer in Finnish Lapland without thinking of Lake Menesjärvi. I hold my memories of my time there dearly; not only was the weather absolutely perfect, but the lake was one of the best places I found for watching the midnight sun traverse the sky in what should have been the dead of night. Can you believe I took this photo only minutes before midnight?

Recently, I wrote on my blog (at http://www.bootsandabackpack.com/menesjarvi-blissful-lapland-at-its-best/) about how Menesjärvi was the perfect spot to kick back and relax on a summer holiday. I mean, how could it not be when it featured scenes like this at 11pm?

How gorgeous is this? I was lucky enough to get perfect weather for two nights running during my stay on the shores of Lake Menesjärvi, and it could not have been more beautiful. The midnight sun -- to the right of this frame -- made the clouds light up in different colours for hours on end and the lake was so still that it looked like this jetty was just floating in the sky.
