Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge Curacao ©Debra Martz Built in 1888 and named after a Dutch queen, this floating bridge connects the Punda and Otrobanda neighborhoods of Curaçao's capital Willemstad. It swings open on pontoons to allow boat/ship traffic through the narrow harbor giving it the nickname of The Old Swinging Lady. The amazing city of Shanghai. My first stay in this city, even my first visit in China. I enjoyed it very much. Just three days are too short to explore the whole city. This tea house is on an island. To visit the tea house you have to cross Jiuqu Bridge (Nine Turns), near Yuyuan Garden. Canon EOS 70D, 1/125 s, f7.1, 19 mm, ISO 100.

An old brick railway bridge spanning the River Kennet at Reading, Berkshire. This is very near the mouth of the Kennet where it joins the River Thames. The bridge carries the line from Reading to Waterloo. The area here is Kennetside - in the past an industrial area of the town. Just further along and under the bridge is the old gasworks and a bit further still takes us to where Huntley and Palmers once made their biscuits.

The Ponte Vecchio (Italian for Old Bridge) is the most famous bridge in Florence, Italy. It is also the oldest, this structure with three stone arches replaced a wooden bridge which had crossed the Arno River at this spot since Roman times. The upper side of the bridge, known as the Vasariano corridor, was designed by Vasari to link the Palazzo Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery to the Pitti Palace; today it is an art gallery. The bridge is inhabited. Originally the sides held food shops but by the end of the 15th century the shops were assigned to goldsmiths and silversmiths. An opening midway across the bridge offers views of the river and shore. It is said that the economic concept of bankruptcy originated here: when a merchant could not...

This is inevitable with prints of this age & actually lends an authentic look to the print in my opinion.

River Frome, Wareham, January 2022 The historic market town of Wareham (Dorset, England) is built on a low-lying area of land between the River Frome (pictured here) and the River Piddle (yes, really) to the North. Both rivers flow out into Poole harbour, some eight miles to the east, and are tidal. Wareham has a long history. The current town was founded in Saxon times, but there is evidence of a Roman settlement here, and both Bronze Age and Stone Age artefacts have also been discovered in the area. Date: 30th January 2022.

Gewölbe is the name of this house which is built right over a small river in the town Hansestadt Wismar in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is in close distance to the old harbor. The building was built in mid-17th-century. Restoration in 2003. Canon EOS 60D, 1/125 s, f11, 15 mm, ISO 100

A digital pencil drawing of the old bridge over the River Wye at Chepstow in Monmouthshire, Wales, at low tide. This elegant and sturdy bridge provides a link between Monmouthshire and Gloucestershire in England. It was constructed in 1816 and was designed by John Rastrick of Bridgenorth. It had to be tall and extremely strong as the tidal range here is one of the highest in the world, at times reaching 14 metres! Hence the massive pillars on which it is constructed.

Bridges are cool, and this one is my favorite bridge in the whole wide world - the Roebling Suspension Bridge. It was taken over the course of the setting sun from Cincinnati facing Covington. I could get really existential, and discuss how the span of the bridge was the span to freedom for escaped slaves on the Underground Railroad...but I already did, huh...? 3,305 views and counting!
