Hurricane LF363 of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Rear Wheel about to touchdown after displaying at Farnborough in 2010 LF363 has carried the colours of Hurricane Mk1 P3878 ‘YB-W' of 17 Squadron since 2006. The original P3878 was shot down on 24 September 1940 whilst piloted by Harold 'Birdy' Bird-Wilson. Birdy survived.

When I was kid the defiant was the very first Airfix model had and at some point after that I build a Bristol Blenheim Mk 4. I knew nothing about planes than but since I have been luck enough to spend a fair amount of time around the newly restored Mk1 at Duxford. It had a rough time during the war and when you see it up close it looks obsolete by late WW2 standards. Slow and poorly defended it look much more at home at an airshow that on a bombing run. Still a very beautiful aircraft all the same.
