This is the full list of all 10 instructions for my recreation of the Zero Gravity Toilet info from 2001 – A Space Odyssey. It includes instruction for showering and hand-washing. For most things I think the Zero Gravity Toilet design, also available on in my portfolio is a better fit. But I’ve included this for completeness sake. As usual, I’ve tried to be as accurate as possible, right down to end of line justifications. Because I’m like that. Please be warned about that I have my doubts as to how readable this would be on a t-shirt. If you do get it on a shirt, please let me know how it looks! Same warning, and request, for smaller items :)

Yes, the address from which we joined the TARDIS and her crew on their adventures! This is a clean, non grubby version of the writing. Every version of this I have seen makes do with fonts, including a cursive script for the Scrap Merchant section. I chose to painstakingly copy the original hand-painted lettering from screen caps and photos of the original sign in both the pilot and first episodes of Doctor Who to create an accurate vector graphic version. What this means is, I’ve carefully replicated some of the badly painted letters of the original, but that I’ve also captured their uniqueness! There will be two other versions soonish. A grubbier version, and one replicating the look of the original wooden gates.

One of the most beautiful spacecrafts in science fiction is The Liberator from Blake’s 7. Made by The System and originally called Deep Space Vehicle 2, these are the main markings on the body of the ship. I’ve also replicated the panels from the original ship. The ship usually showed up as white onscreen because it was heavily overlit – something the model builders often complained about.

Strange space! The British Rocket Group sign from the first Quatermass serial on a classic British Racing Green background, where possible. Lettering copied as closely as possible from the original, including the weird spacing!

The Volkswagen from the 1974 Peter Weir film, The Cars That Ate Paris, is a vehicle that once seen, is never forgotten. So what better way to present the car from that classic Australian film, than as a road warning sign? I’m actually quite pleased with this. I took a 3D model of a VW Beetle and using stills and screen captures, did my best to accurately place all the spikes in the right spots.

I happened to be in a graveyard working on a short film, when I was lucky enough to find this moment. The image has been deliberately softened because I thought it looked better that way. If requested I can make a sharper version available.
