We couldn't have asked for a better day at Whitehaven Beach. The beach really lived up to its reputation--even in July it was a nice temperature to swim in, and it was even better just to lie on the beach and take in the scene!

Those who love Whitehaven in the North West of England will love to wear this design to show their love for all things Cumbria.

The Camira catamaran sails slowly past Hill Inlet towards the main stretch of Whitehaven Beach, as seen from the lookout at Hill Inlet.

Maryport is one of the few English Towns that still has a working fishing fleet, albeit very small. The town itself relies more on tourism now. The small harbour is still busy with trawlers going to a fro and they sail out into the Solway FIrth.

The perfect white sands of Whitehaven Beach, turned into ripples by the wind.

Shells galore

Maryport in Cumbria is one of the few places on the English coast where you can still see what looks like a fishing boat fleet. There are even enough boats for there to be a yearly trawler race! The harbour and new yacht marina are the start of regeneration taking place and the once Roman outpost is slowly becoming a popular tourist area.

On our last day on Hamilton Island, we decided to take the plunge and book a helicopter ride over Whitehaven Beach. It was 20 minutes of beautiful island and reef views, capped by this amazing scene at Whitehaven's Hill Inlet.
