This design comes from my background in northwest homesteading In Alaska! Rugged men and women who are not afraid to live off the land or hike for long distances in the wilderness. I added the well know black spruce trees in the plaid. Which seems to reflect now and then in a hidden lake.

This painting was specifically done for an art exhibition with a Celtic theme. I was reading some medieval stories about courting etc. and ended up painting with watercolour depicting woodmen from the forest dressed in their best clothes attending a market day festival in a nearby town with the specific purpose of courting or wooding the fair maidens there. It was a bit of fun to research and paint, especially researching the modes of dress for the period. I have included it here for the fans of all things Celtic and medieval and I thought it might be a suitable artwork for a child's room or as a card for Valentine's Day.
