Balos (Gramvoussa) beach, on the northwest of Crete island, although remote and difficult to reach is one of the most famous and spectacular beaches of the island and the whole Greece. Balos Beach is spectacular; it resides on a peninsular on the very northwest corner of Crete. I had spotted the beach on Google Maps and was determined to go there on an upcoming visit to the island. It's not the most accessible place. You have to drive a very rough road along the peninsular and then walk down about 500 feet on a very steep rocky trail. But it was worth it. This panoramic image was captured about halfway down to the beach and takes in about 180 degrees of the view.
