Korean Augmentation To the United States Army (KATUSA: 카투사) is a branch of the Republic of Korea Army that consists of Korean drafted personnel who are augmented to the Eighth United States Army (EUSA). KATUSA does not form an individual military unit, instead small numbers of KATUSA members are dispatched throughout the most of the Eighth United States Army departments, filling in positions for the United States Army enlisted soldiers and junior non-commissioned officers. KATUSAs are drafted from pool of qualified volunteers who are subjected to mandatory military service for Korean male citizens.

The 6th Ordnance Battalion consisted of a Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment that exercised command and control over 5 ordnance companies located through the Republic of Korea. The Battalion had the mission of ammunition accountability, surveillance and maintenance supervision. Its subordinate units coordinated directly with the Republic of Korea Army units, who received, stored, issued and transported the ammunitions in accordance with the single ammunition logistics system-Korea.
