Oculus Baseball T-Shirts

Reflection on the dark floor of the oculus high above. A bit more about this amazing underground cistern: Portuguese Cistern - El Jadida Expanded since 1514, this former warehouse (possibly an armory) was converted into a cistern in the sixteenth century. The cistern is famous especially for the thin layer of water that covers the floor, and which creates fine and everchanging reflections from the little light there is and the spartan shapes of the columns and the roof. It was discovered almost by chance in 1916. Overhead is an oculus, open to the sky. The combination of the water on the floor and the light from the ceiling creates beautiful and spooky reflections and shadow-play.

All images have been photographed through glass orbs varying in shape and size. The largest ones weigh up to 3lbs! The photographs are inverted to focus the viewer on the subject within the orb.
