An icon of the Teesside steelmaking industry in the North East of England, the 365ft Redcar blast furnace which was constructed in the 1970's last produced steel in 2015 and until 2022 has been seen as a memorial to all those engaged in steelmaking on Teesside. It was finally demolished in November 2022 in an emotional farewell to the last reminder of steelmaking in the North East. This picture of the blast furnace was taken in 2019 at South Gare.

The bluebells in full flower on the footpath to Roseberry Topping North Yorkshire. Roseberry Topping is a wonderful little hill (1050 feet of hard sandstone) full of character and a distinctive landmark sandwiched as it is between industrial Teesside and the North York Moors. I approached the ‘Matterhorn of Middlesborough’ on a cloudy summer’s day and climbed the hill from the car park near Great Ayton.
