River Thames, Cookham, August 2020 A cruiser passes a couple of rather attractive boat houses on the River Thames at Cookham (Berkshire, England). Date: 5th August 2020.

A picturesque boathouse on the banks of the River Thames between Benson and Wallingford in Oxfordshire. Here the river banks are covered in mature trees and plenty of thick undergrowth. But here and there we get glimpses across the river of views such as this. We are standing on the Thames Path, the long distance trail which joins the Thames Barrier in London with the source of the river in the Cotswolds. To our right is the old market town of Wallingford and to our left is the lock at Benson.

A captivating image of the view over the River Thames from Ray Mill Island. On the right is the Boathouse Restaurant sitting beside Boulters Lock and which was once a watermill. Taplow and Maidenhead are joined by an elegant footbridge on Ray Mill Island. The lock itself was the subject of several paintings in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. My photograph has been finished as a coloured pencil drawing.

The view over the River Thames from the Taplow bank to Ray Mill Island and the Boathouse Restaurant, Maidenhead. Taplow and Maidenhead are joined by an elegant footbridge on Ray Mill Island. The Thames between Folly Bridge in Oxford and Iffley . A rowing boat is emerging from under the bridge which joins Boathouse Walk and Christ Church Meadow Walk. Next to this are some of the Oxford College boathouses on a stretch of the river famed for boat racing. Pleasure boats and punts are often to be seen here as well as rowing crews in training.

A fine Edwardian house sitting on the banks of the River Thames at Caversham, Reading. Here it is seen from the Thameside Promenade, part of the Thames Path National Trail. Here the thames is often busy with leisure boating traffic - launches, rowing boats and canoes. This house and others like it along the riverbanks of course have their own boathouses - perhaps as part of the building as here!

The rather elegant footbridge connects Christchurch Meadow Walk and Boathouse Island on the River Thames near Oxford. Passing under the bridge you would eventually meet with the River Cherwell which joins the Thames a little further downstream. To the right of the bridge are the University boathouses where the racing boats are stored. This image was captured from the Thames path on its way from Folly Bridge Oxford to Iffley.
