A distant view of Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains National Park showing both sections of this enormous waterfall. Just past this point a couple of young men came up from a climb to the bottom section covered in sweat & breathless & advising us not to try to go all the way down. The trip to the bottom involves climbing down steep ladders. I didn't think it would be a good idea with all my camera gear. Canon 400D. Even though there wasn't a lot of water in the falls on this day, at least that meant that I wasn't getting too much spray on the lens. The amazing Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains drops over this cliff for more than 100 metres before it drops over another cliff into the Jamison Valley. There is rarely a lot of water in these falls but the rock structure is pretty special & the setting spectacular. For those who don't know the area, you can walk down the cliff to the right of this image & across the mid section of the falls (bottom of this photo) & walk around the cliff to the Valley of the Waters where you see Sylvia Falls ... featured below. Towards the end of the National Pass walking track is this vista of Wentworth Falls. With some water it makes a great sight. With the recent dry spell it looks a bit empty but I like the cliff face & the trees in the foreground. Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains National Park, Australia. I waited till after sunset to get a consistent light on the cliff & ledge below. This is the top section of the falls which falls again into the valley below.

A very wet April 2015 meant that the waterfalls were flowing stronger than usual. Wentworth Falls normally has a modest amount of water flowing over it, so this amount is quite unusual & was great to see. My first decent photo of my favourite Sylvia Falls with the new camera. The last time I was here was just after a mini cyclone & there was so much water coming over the falls you couldn't stand in front here without getting drenched from the water spray. Sylvia Falls near the Valley of the Waters at Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains National Park in Australia. This is on one of my favourite walks & the track goes around the cliff to Wentworth Falls before you climb a steep cliff to the top of the falls. My other good shots of Sylvia are portrait format. This is the view as you approach the falls from above. After hundreds of shots of Sylvia Falls I thought I had photographed it from every angle but this view looked so nice with the ferns & orange coloured rocks that it begged to be photographed. The walking track starts from the Valley of the Waters at a place called Wentworth Falls. The magnificent Sylvia Falls in the Blue Mountains, this time in black & white. As much as I love colour, I thought I'd give this beauty a go in monochrome. On the Wentworth Pass track starting at the Valley of the Waters, heading past the world famous Sylvia Falls is this beautiful sight. It needed a tight angle because of the small trees obstructing the view. Recent rain made this waterfall more photogenic & the track muddy & slippery. This track leads to Vera Falls & then on to Wentworth Falls but it started to rain making it slippery & dangerous down there. The track is advertised as being for the more experienced hiker. I love the way the new growth on the ferns brings a spray of autumnal colours to the scene (in spring) .. bottom right. A normally small waterfall is transformed into a raging torrent with the runoff from near cyclonic rainfall in area. I managed to use a stronger filter to get a silky effect on a waterfall in the sunshine!! This is a detour track off the main walking track to the bottom of Wentworth Falls. Just near the start of the National Pass walking track at the Valley of the Waters at Wentworth Falls is a detour which provides this stunning view of the valley. Seeing this site was definitely a "Wow" moment for me & once again it was a view I had missed despite having done this walk several times. The swirling mist & light rain provided an everchanging view & made it difficult (or impossible) at times to avoid getting small droplets of water on the lens. This is the Blue Mountains National Park in Australia.

It's hard to believe there are still waterfalls in the Blue Mountains that I haven't seen, but I'm glad. We set out on a walk to Vera Falls which was advertised as being for experienced walkers. After seeing some amazing waterfalls including my favourite Sylvia Falls we got to this beautiful little waterfall part of the way along before it started to rain. We met a great group of hikers, Brett, Janis & Jim who had been to Vera Falls & told us it was pretty slippery up there & they had slipped a few times, so we decided to turn back. Fortun...
