A great design for anyone tackling the four peaks challenge aka the Copper Hills challenge!

This is a stack of 92 images combined to show the path of the stars as they rose over the mittens and Merrick Butte in Monument Valley, Arizona. The time span for the complete sequence was an hour. The red glow in the distance is, I believe, the lights of Bluff, Utah. The star cluster over the red glow, between the East Mitten and West Mitten, is Pleiades, also known as M45.

It seemed there were wild fires all over the West in August, 2017, as exhibited by the crimson sun in this smokey sunrise photo of the Palouse, in eastern Washington State, taken from Steptoe Butte.

Monument Valley provides perhaps the most enduring and definitive images of the American West. The isolated red mesas and buttes surrounded by an empty, sandy desert have been filmed and photographed countless times over the years for movies, adverts, and holiday brochures.
