Beautiful Akaroa Harbour is part of Banks Peninsula in the Canterbury region of New Zealand. The harbor enters from the southern coast of the peninsula, where you can sail to see dolphins up close. First settled by the French, their flavour is obvious in all aspects of the village.

The sun sets over the harbour at Akaroa on the Banks Peninsula. I seem to have been very lucky with sunsets there -- and the gorgeous setting definitely doesn't hurt either!

I spent pretty much my entire first trip to Akaroa being astounded by the beauty. I spent my entire day just wandering the shoreline, and after dinner I snuck out of a game of Scrabble at my hostel to be greeted by this beauty. Taken in 2008 using my Panasonic FZ18.
