A Pink Japanese Camellia or Camellia Japonica

A vibrant pink flower with a bright yellow center is blooming among thick green leaves. The petals display a delicate gradient from a darker to a lighter shade of pink, and the leaves offer a rich backdrop to the bloom's striking colors.

Pink Japanese Camellia Flower

This lovely shrub was a delightful distraction during a spring walk in a local bluebell woodland. As a lot of its flowers were draped over a fence, a closer look was necessary. SOME FACTS: The Camellia Japonica, known as common camellia or Japanese camellia, blooms between winter and spring. Like many flowers, Japanese camellias don't always cope with very cold weather. There are over 250 species of camellia with over 30,000 cultivars of camellia japonica in a diverse range of forms and colours. They are native to China, Korea, and Japan. Some Japanese camellias, around the emperor's palace in Japan, are known to be over 500 years old.
