Originally known as Family Video Movie Club, Family Video was a family-owned video rental chain based in Glenview, Illinois that served the United States and Canada through more than 750 retail stores. While competitor's focused on saturating larger cities, Family Video locations were primarily established in rural areas, suburbs, and small-to-midsize cities. After the demise of America's two much larger video rental players, Family Video was the last rental chain in operation. Rather than depending on the revenue-sharing model used by others, the chain bought and owned its movies to keep all the rental profit, and also owned all of their stores, avoiding leasing issues that were largely responsible for taking other chains down.

Dracula's Dog is a 1977 American horror film starring Michael Pataki and José Ferrer. It revolves around a dog who is turned into a vampire by a member of the Dracula family, who is also a vampire. The film's screenplay by Frank Ray Perilli was the basis for the 1977 paperback, Hounds of Dracula, which was re-titled Dracula's Dog upon the film's release in the U.S. In the U.K., both the novel and film were titled Zoltan... Hound of Dracula. The movie sees the Russian army unearth the vault of Dracula, and accidentally unleash his undead human slave and the Count’s vampire hellhound Zoltan. These friends need a new master and head for Los Angeles to find Dracula’s last living descendant, family man Michael Drake.

Taxi is a 1998 French action comedy film starring Samy Naceri, Frédéric Diefenthal and Marion Cotillard, written by Luc Besson and directed by Gérard Pirès. It is the first installment in the Taxi film series. It has four sequels, Taxi 2, Taxi 3, Taxi 4 and Taxi 5 and one American remake, Taxi (2004). Long before streaming was a thing, you had to hunt and peck for hard to find movies on VHS, especially those in the horror genre. If you were lucky, you had a mom and pop video store that shared an interest in obscure cinema and carried stuff that the chain video rental places didn't. For most of us, this meant finding a VHS mail order business. A subsidiary of Los Angeles based adult film distributor, Select-a-Tape, Midnight Video specialized in low-budget exploitation horror films in stylish VHS display packaging. They sold through mail order ads in the back of horror magazines and comic books. Cinephiles would check off the boxes next to the titles they wanted, write a check, and then send off their order.
