Cefn Coed Colliery, settled in the Neath valley, now a museum for people to explore the local Welsh heritage, once it would of supplied coal to the world over. A gem of South Wales.

Coal mine

Great Western Railway saddle tank 1340 Trojan at the Didcot Rail Centre, Oxfordshire. This locomotive was built by the Avonside Engine Company in 1897, largely seeing service in the South Wales docks. It was finally sold to a Midlands colliery before finishing its working life. It has now been fully restored by the Didcot Rail Centre and can be seen here on the traverser in front of the engine sheds building up a head of steam in preparation for shunting duties.

An almost forgotten memorial to an almost forgotten industry. This memorial marks the site of Cambois Colliery in the old Northumberland Coal Field. The colliery has long since closed and the memorial is becoming overgrown and neglected; a sad outcome after the toil, sweat. tears and loss of life in this once proud industry.
