Colour blindness test. Computer artwork of an Ishihara colour test card used to check for red- green colour blindness. The card is comprised of red and orange dots on a background of green dots. A person with normal vision will be able to see the word 'vision'. A person with red deficiency (protanopia) will only see the orange parts of the word, while those with green deficiency (deuteranopia) will only see the red parts of the word. Colour blindness is usually caused by an inherited genetic defect in the light-sensitive cells (cones) of the eye. Colour blindness can also be caused by optic injury or nerve diseases.

on the monitor you're reading this on, the colour yellow is made up from red and green - this is "additive colour" where the more colour you add, the brighter/whiter the resulting colour becomes of course, when you mix green and red in a "subtractive colour" space like printing, you end up with a brown, or, with a bit of luck, a dirty gold colour ... let's see if it works

On the train from Romsey to Salisbury I've passed this saxon church at Lockerley (Hampshire, UK) many times. Last December I cycled out, and found a footpath near the railway from which I took a photo of the church and from which I drew / painted this sketch. It done in water soluble coloured pencil - so not sure if that counts as a drawing or a painting. Anyhow, having never used this media before I used a technique of first drawing as I would with ordinary coloured pencils, and then dabbed a damp or wet brush to get varying levels of smudginess whilst retaining some of the pencil marks.
