We went to Fingal Head (on the Tweed River in northern New South Wales) to take full moon seascapes. We ended up getting some impressive storm shots instead. Luckily the rain was south of us so we didn't get soaked as well!

The Milky Way stretches across the sky above the Fingal Head lighthouse in northern New South Wales. We were lucky to be able to see the Milky Way at all, since it was intermittently raining in between patches of completely clear skies.

Waves crash over the Giant's Causeway...but not the one in Northern Ireland! While these rocks are quite similar, they are located a world away in Fingal Head, Australia.

Fingal Head on New South Wales' Tweed Coast is one of the few examples of this geological formation -- called columnar jointing -- in the world. The other, more famous, examples are the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland and Fingal's Cave in Scotland. No surprise that this and the Scottish formation are both named after the same ancient Scottish hero!
