I thought I was viewing a movie set when I came across this 60's style drive-in while exploring Prince Edward Island. Gillis' Drive In Restaurant is one of the last car hops service in Canada. It is located in the community of Montague, within the Town of Three Rivers, Kings County PEI. It had a lot of character and a great opportunity to create a story of nostalgia. Unfortunately at the time, there were a lot of modern day cars parked that didn't fit the theme of what I wanted to capture. What to do? So I returned the next day before daybreak and yes the lot was empty! However the sun coming up directly behind and silhouetting the drive-in itself! This wasn't working! Came across these commercial fishing huts and lobster traps during my travels of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Love the early morning tones of this image. This is in Montague located within the town of Three Rivers in Kings County, PEI. The port is a base for commercial lobster fishing. There are two lobster seasons on PEI. I discovered this scenic rural church while traveling the backroads of Prince Edward Island. The white church stood out like a beacon in the middle of the surrounding potato fields. This is the Free Church of Scotland in DeSable, Prince Edward Island Canada. This is a rural maritime church built in the meeting house style with New England architectural influences. The current church was built in 1855 by Silas MacFarlane . A landmark in the area, the church is a symbol of the province's early Scottish settlement. I discovered this small church in the rural community of Uigg (pronounced U-igg) during my travels of Prince Edward Island, Canada. The elegant simplicity of the Uigg Baptist Church is a testament to the Scottish pioneers who settled the area in 1829, coming from their home in Uig, Isle of Skye. Constructed in 1874, it has the original clapboard siding, with sets of 3 Gothic Revival windows complete with glazing bars and original glass on each side. Have you ever been to the Prince Edward Island; Canada's smallest province? While there are 63 lighthouses and range lights on Prince Edward Island this is one of my favourites. Not big in stature this pretty little lighthouse is at Covehead Harbour along the north shore of Prince Edward Canada. Facing the Gulf of St Lawrence, it is a popular spot for visitors and Islanders alike. It is located within PEI National Park and sits atop the sand dunes with access to the beach. I have had the opportunity to visit this spot with return visits with the ambition to make something memorable for your home decor.

I discovered this small school house while exploring the backroads of Prince Edward Island. I wanted to create a photograph that related to the schools past. Including the road sign completed the story in this image. There are many crossroads located in PEI that have retained their historic name from early settlement times. Canoe Cove is one of them. The Canoe Cove School was built in approximately the year 1850. School consolidation swept the Island in the 1960s, and small schools, including Canoe Cove, were put out to pasture.
