The view of Whitchurch toll bridge over the River Thames from Pangbourne Meadows on the southern, Berkshire bank. This image was captured in late autumn with much of the brilliant colour still in evidence. The first bridge here was wooden and was constructed in 1792, followed by a further one in 1852. The present bridge is iron and was originally built in 1902. It was recently refurbished in 2013--14. It's one of only two toll bridges remaining over the Thames, the other being at Swinford near Witney, Oxfordshire. Canon G12

The road bridge at Henley on Thames which carries the A4130 from Henley in Oxfordshire over the river to Remenham in Berkshire. Built to replace an earlier wooden structure, this bridge was designed by the architect William Hayward in 1781 and was completed in 1784, the builder being John Townesend of Oxford. On the left here is the landing stage of the Leander Rowing Club reminding us that Henley is most famous for the Royal Regatta held every July (in normal times!). The bridge is a Grade 1 listed structure.

Viewed from the Thames Path long-distance trail - the bridge over the Thames at Goring. This bridge, carrying the B4009 road connects the two villages of Streatley in Berkshire with Goring in Oxfordshire. The present bridge was built in 1923 and replaced an earlier one dating from 1837 which was constructed of timber. This also forms the river crossing section of both the Ridgeway and the Thames Path. Just upstream here can be seen Goring Lock.

A digital art image of the bridge over the river at Goring-on-Thames in Oxfordshire. This is actually half of the bridge as a second identical length crosses the river to the Berkshire bank at Streatley-on-Thames. This is the view from the Thames Path National Trail which starts life at Cricklade in Gloucestershire and finishes at the Thames Barrier in London. This particular bridge was constructed in 1923. A previous toll bridge which dated from 1837 in turn replaced a ferry.

The road bridge over the River Thames at Abingdon in Oxfordshire. Abingdon is situated between Oxford and Didcot and was an important centre in medieval times, particularly because of the abbey of which a few buildings remain. The bridge in the image carries the road from the town centre to Dorchester-on-Thames. This image captured in late September with the first signs of autumn (or fall).

A view looking across the River Thames at Marlow in Buckinghamshire. In the background is the fine suspension bridge opened in 1832 and designed by by William Tierney Clark. This is also the model for the Szechenyl Chain Bridge over the River Danube in Budapest. Next to the bridge is the Compleat Angler Hotel. This stretch of river is famous for rowing, having produced Olympic champions such as Sir Steve Redgrave.

The races are run between Temple Island and a finishing line just downstream of the Bridge - a distance of 1 mile 550 yards. Begun in 1839, the Regatta achieved its 'Royal' status when Albert became patron, The bridge itself dates from 1786. This image is produced in the style of a coloured pencil drawing.

The inn dates from 1728 and is of course a listed building. Here's my monochrome take on it. Date: 4th August 2020.

The church and mill buildings at Whitchurch on Thames viewed from the toll bridge. Whitchurch is in South Oxfordshire and lies on the north bank of the River Thames opposite the Berkshire village of Pangbourne. On a backwater next to the lock is the old mill, now converted into housing together with several old brick and tile cottages. The parish church of St Mary, largely rebuilt in 1857 is thought to be of Saxon origin.
