Delegates from some Unionist counties of northwestern Virginia decided to break away from Virginia, although they included many secessionist counties in the new state.[12] West Virginia was admitted to the Union on June 20, 1863, and was a key border state during the war. The John Denver Almost Heaven Design remembers the much loved country singer John Denver, through the opening lines of his most well known track, Take Me Home, Country Roads. Originally recorded on the Poems, Prayers and Promises album, the song became Denver's signature tune and still sells to this day despite his untimely death in 1997.
