As the winter solstice is coming, may you have a blessed yuletide season and a happy Yule.

In this Yuletide season, may the light find you through the longest night of the winter solstice,

St. Lucia - John Bauer, advent In Nordic culture, on the winter solstice the locals would have bonfires to ward off spirits. With the coming of Christianity, St. Lucia took the place of the solstice. This illustration was for a stamp. The Feast of Saint Lucy falls on December 13 for 2019. A magical symbol to use for all your rituals connected to Nature

Created for my Spirits of Winter series and orginally rendered in watercolor and ink. In the dark of winter, we offer our humble light and find hope in the evergreen holly and pine. Spring awaits, but for now, we are blessed by stars and their promise of hope and guidance.

"Evergreen Lady" is a painting created for my Spirits of Winter series. Originally rendered in watercolor, ink, and gold leaf. In dark times, we must hold on to a sliver of warmth and light. Evergreens remind us of the eternal quality of our persistence. The darkness will end come the daybreak of hope.
