Tauhou is the Maori name for the Silvereye. This design features 3 Tauhou flying in formation. This Bird is designed with curving korus and curving colours which represent the true colours of the beautiful Silvereye. The silvereye, also know as Wax-eye (Zosterops lateralis) or White-eye, colonised New Zealand from Australia and is one of New Zealand’s widespread bird species. It is found throughout New Zealand. Silvereyes are small songbirds that are easily recognised by a white eye-ring; their feathers are olive-green above and cream below.

This rare Hawaiian honeycreeper lives in the native forests above 5000 feet elevation of the Big Island. With its slightly crossed bill it opens ‘ōhia leaf buds in search of insects. It is another endangered endemic bird of Hawai’i

The disenfranchised, the illegal, those trapped in poverty, by racism, through sexism, the 99%, are all looking for equal opportunity and protection under the law. Who doesn’t pay their fair share in taxes? Who pollutes public lands? Who gets their record cleared? Who gets away with murder? Not this guy - and that needs to change.

The Takahe is a flightless bird which is indigenous to New Zealand. For 50 years the South Island Takahe was thought to be extinct, luckily that was wrong. If you have the time it is a great story of discovery, well worth googling. The North Island Takahe is extinct. This design uses Koru patterns. The koru (Māori for “loop” is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond and symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace. The colours are, purple-blue, greenish and brown. I also have this design for sale with the text Aotearoa, rather than New Zealand.

Kelp Goose, Chloephaga hybrida, is a member of the duck, goose and swan family Anatidae. It is in the shelduck subfamily Tadorninae. It can be found in the Southern part of South America; in Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego, and the Falkland Islands. They habitat rocky coasts around their food sources. Males are a white colour, with a black beak, and yellow feet. The females are dark brown, with transverse grey lines on the chest, and yellow feet. Chicks are grey. Seen on Carcass Island. Kelp geese are noted for only eating kelp and will migrate along the coast of South America in order to find kelp, hence the name 'kelp geese'. Kelp geese generally have clutches of 2-7 eggs. They prefer to hide their eggs in long grass. The eggs hatch about ...

Fantail, a native bird of New Zealand, called Piwakawaka in Maori. I have drawn this using Koru designs based on unfurling fern fronds. This vector design is bold and simple. 2 shades of brown, and on some products, an earthy, light brown background.

The Koa Bug you can find in Koa bushes or Koa Trees on all islands of Hawai’i. At first they are green in color but then turning red as they develop.

6 New Zealand birds. I drew these out as a mural a few years ago. Recently I decided to remake them graphically, it was a fun project for me. Revisiting my old work using technology to improve and refine my early work. I used Koru patterns. The koru (Māori for "loop" is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond and symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace. New Zealand has so many wonderful birds, we are lucky to have them. Featuring Takahe, Kiwi, Fantail, Silvereye, Rock Wren, and Tomtit. A great gift for a Kiwi who misses home, or even one that you want to remind how great home is.
