Reuniting again with director Stanley Tong (POLICE STORY III: SUPER COP, RUMBLE IN THE BRONX), in 1996 Jackie Chan presented a new spin on his Hong Kong cop character. POLICE STORY IV: FIRST STRIKE offers a more globe-trotting, James Bond-inspired action adventure with added comedic tones. But whereas Bond relied on high-tech gadgets and beautiful women, Chan bumbles from one misadventure to another with nothing but his wits and fast reflexes. But of course Jackie is never truly "unarmed", as he famously utilizes whatever is available to complete his mission. This design is a custom variation of the original Japanese poster for Jackie Chan's 1985 American film THE PROTECTOR. Chan was unhappy with director James Glickenhaus' final product, so he shot new footage with HK stars Sally Yeh and Moon Lee to appeal to his home market. He also deleted certain scenes and added new faster-paced action scenes that better suited his style.
