Mallee Hoodies

To the east of the eastern shore of the ancient lake is an area of Mallee Scrub, with distinctive wildflowers - Mulla Mulla, and ground cover including spinifex grass in flower. Mallee is a variety of eucalyptus especially suited to low rainfall areas. The Mungo National Park is World Heritage Listed. New South Wales, Australia. Canon 500D, zoom lens.

Taken at Wilpena Pound on the final day of my South Australian photography tour. One of Australia's most beautiful parrots and not an easy subject to catch.

Ringneck Mallee

The first time I ever saw a Mallee Ringnecked Parrot, at Arkaroola in outback South Australia on a recent photography tour.
