Pyramid Mines, owned and operated by Federal Colonies, stopped operating in 2084 once they discovered ancient alien technology on Mars. That's a little over 40 years from now. Seems weirdly plausible.

Total Recall (1990) Federal Colonies operates and governs mining facilities and their supporting domed habitats on the planet Mars—a sprawling colony constructed by Earth’s Northern Bloc for the purpose of extracting Mars’ turbinium ore.

Total Recall / 1990. Botco is a space travel service, offering passenger shuttle transport to destinations throughout the solar system. In their video advertisement, Botco proclaims: “Don’t settle for fake memories. Don’t settle for fake implants. Experience space travel the old fashioned way, on a real live holiday you can afford! When you've gotten your ass to Mars, then you need to find Kuato and open your mind.

For passengers journeying to Mars, there is a limit of 18 Earth credits per checked bag. Northern Bloc's approval of passengers to Mars must be furnished to your shuttle carrier. Please note: due to recent unrest on Mars, all passengers traveling to that planet are warned of personal safety hazards. All passengers traveling to the Mars Federal Colony must clear the immigration Hall/ Confederation of Norther Nations.
