Stupas Hoodies

This is an image of just a few of the many, ninety-one, stupas (chedis) within the Wat Pho temple complex. These stupas are incredibly ornate with porcelain pieces embedded around their surfaces in very intricate patterns, each of which is topped by a small spire. I understand that at their simplest, stupas are a simple earthen mound that is faced with stones, but these take the art form to a new level. They are stunning.

This image is a view of three of the most important buildings in the temple complex within the Grand Palace in Bangkok: the golden Phra Siratana Chedi (a reliquary for relics of the Buddha), the Phra Mondop (the library), and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. What I love about this image is the abundance of colour. The golden stupa dominates, but there's the wonderful red roofs trimmed in green and white, and the glorious sky of heavy clouds with hints of the blue beyond.
