A digital sketch of the river at Whitchurch-on-Thames in Oxfordshire. in early autumn. This is the scene form the toll bridge wich links the villages of Whitchurch and Pangbourne (Berkshire). The church of St Mary stands above the cottages which surround the old mill - no longer working but converted into flats. The church, originally built in Norman times underwent an extensive rebuilding programme during the Victorian period.

Whitchurch is in South Oxfordshire and lies on the north bank of the River Thames opposite the Berkshire village of Pangbourne. On a backwater next to the lock is the old mill, now converted into housing together with several old brick and tile cottages. The parish church of St Mary, largely rebuilt in 1857 is thought to be of Saxon origin.
