Prior to painting this, I asked my Twitter followers what I should paint next and the most votes were for something that expressed the relationship between the 12th Doctor and Clara. This scene immediately came to mind. I can't describe the scene without writing a hundreds of words. Let's just say, Clara totally betrays the Doctor in an attempt to save her boyfriend who had been hit by a car and killed. It just might have been my favorite scene from Series 8 because of his response after her betrayal. We should all be so lucky to experience such friendship.

This is a recreation of an image taken from the Series 8 episode, ‘Listen,’ but the scene is a flashback to the 50 Year anniversary episode - Day of the Doctor. This is perhaps the heaviest scene in all of Doctor Who mythology, because here, the Doctor is looking on the barn where he slept as a child, considering the decision he had to make - ending the Time War by committing genocide. At the beginning of the episode, ‘The Bells of St. John’ (Series 7), the Doctor was painting this portrait in a cave when the phone on his Tardis started ringing. I loved the painting so much that decided to recreate it. It’s one of my favorite paintings. Run, you clever boy. And remember…

This was a commissioned piece for an auction that my cousin put together for Harper’s Day - a day devoted to her lost child. I felt that this image perfectly captured the love of a mother. This was also the scene that really created my obsession with Doctor Who. The proceeds of the auction were given to an organization that helps to stop the child sex slave trade.
