It was the hottest day on record in South Australia January 24 2019. Birds of every variety flocked to any source of water to keep cool - at this particular moment finches and New Holland honey eaters. Adelaide reached 46.2C in the city - The Bureau of Meteorology said the first record to fall was at Minlaton, on the Yorke Peninsula, where the mercury reached 45.7C just after 11am on Thursday. The regional centre of Port Lincoln beat its previous record when it reached 47C, while Snowtown made history at 47.3C and Parafield at 46.6C. Foxes while sweet to look at are an introduced species in Australia and pose a serious conservation problem!! Due to its rapid spread and ecological impact it has *classified as one of the most damaging invasive species in Australia*. Foxes are killing machines and a huge problem to native species and farm animals. A plethora of different species make this place home. Our vineyard dog gave chase to this cub. Keeping chickens is difficult with foxes about... despite efforts to fence them in we have lost our chooks more than once....these animals do not just kill for food but slaughter anything in their wake.. European red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) were introduced into Australia in the mid nineteenth century by colonial huntsmen...
