Inspired by Inferno of Divine Comedy (Divina Commedia) by Dante Alighieri, a great classic of world and Italian literature. Swarms of wasps and hornets continuously stinging were the punishment for the uncommited and cowards. Dante witnesses these sinners' sufferings after passing through the gate of Hell, in the Vestibule of Hell, in Canto III.

The Divine Comedy is an Italian narrative poem written by Dante Alighieri in 1308 and completed around 1321. In Greek mythology, Lethe also referred to as Lemosyne, was one of the five rivers of the underworld of Hades. Lethe was also the name of the Greek spirit of forgetfulness and oblivion, with whom the river was often identified.
