Mabinogion Kids Hoodies

This is an illustration to "the First branch of Mabinogi" the Welsh book of Folktales. It depicts "Cwn Annun" - the hunting hounds of the welsh Underworld called Annwn. They have superpowers and are conductors of souls between two worlds.

A pair of beautiful starlings with iridescent feathers in blossom. These beautiful garden birds were once seen as the birds of the Druids and in the Welsh Mabinogion, the Queen Branwen nursed a young starling to health and then used it to send a message to her brother to rescue her from mistreatment at the hands of her husband. I created my Celtic starlings art from pen drawings put together digitally to create the final artwork.

This is an illustration to the ancient Welsh legend "a Fourth branch of Mabinogi" This is a tale of a woman named Bloddeuwedd who was magically created from flowers by the wizard Gwydion to be a wife for his nephew Lleu Llaw Gyffes. But afterwards she was turned into an owl in punishment for an adultery and treachery.
