The view of the River Thames looking downstream from Halfpenny Bridge in Lechlade, Gloucestershire. This is the highest navigable point on the river as just a little further upstream it becomes narrower and shallower. Here though, boats are moored by the meadows where cattle graze while swans preen and wait for handouts of food! Lechlade is an attractive market town at the southern tip of the Cotswolds close to the Gloucestershre and Oxfordshire border.

We're not quite as fancy as those "Lake Life" people, but we sure have a lot of fun cruising and boozing on the river with our friends and fellow river rats. There's never a bad day on the water. Distressed artwork. Available without river name, also.

The River Swale lends it's name to the local valley of Swaledale, which is one of the northernmost dales in Yorkshire Dales National Park. The river flows through the market town of Richmond North Yorkshire where it flows over a number of falles on its way down the valley towards the North Sea.

Snake River is a great spot for kayakers. It originates in Wyoming and arcs across southern Idaho before turning north along the Idaho-Oregon border. The river then enters Washington and flows west to the Columbia River.

The Ponte Vecchio (Italian for Old Bridge) is the most famous bridge in Florence, Italy. It is also the oldest, this structure with three stone arches replaced a wooden bridge which had crossed the Arno River at this spot since Roman times. The upper side of the bridge, known as the Vasariano corridor, was designed by Vasari to link the Palazzo Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery to the Pitti Palace; today it is an art gallery. The bridge is inhabited. Originally the sides held food shops but by the end of the 15th century the shops were assigned to goldsmiths and silversmiths. Photo taken near Cape Girardeau, Mo. I wanted to create a timeless feel to this image. Rivers have transported mankind through the centuries - for better and for worse. It was early morning with a thick fog hanging low and heavy hiding all things over 50 feet away. I had just about given up on getting any shots other than the rocks and old post along the immediate shore line around me. As the barge went by the fog started giving up its hold and I was able to get this image using a Nikon D5000 with a 70-300mm lens. Once home I had to use both RAW adjustments and some Photoshop moves to produce "River Time."

More accurately, at that point, considering the many bends in the river, it is technically the West bank. A panoramic view of the North Bank of the River Thames as it runs through London, England, including the Palace of Westminster (the Houses of Parliament) and Westminster Bridge, taken from the Riverside Walk near the London Eye. Best viewed Larger.

The Bridge Inn Topsham where my brothers and I play folk music, we have been going here for over fifty years on and off, they sell real ale and its one of the oldest independent pubs in the United Kingdom. Queen Elizabeth stopped here for a drink when she was on a tour of Devon and they brewed a special beer. A great painting and conversation piece to have on your wall.
