Activated 15 August 1942 at Camp C;aiborne, Louisana and assigned to 101st Airborne Division. The Regiment then moved to Fort Bragg, NC on 1 October 1942. Thje regiment then staged at Camp Shanks NY and departed 5 September 1943, arrived in England 19 Oct 1943. Assault the Normandy breach in June 1944. The onSeptember 1944 assaulted Nijmegen Holland. Returned to France 28 November 1944, disbanded on 1 MArch 1945. The glidermen were assigned to the 327th Glider Infantry. Campaigns: Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, Central Europe

The use of the warrior's head and the rattlesnakes was suggested by Orcutt's History, published under the auspices of the Fairfield County (Connecticut) Historical Society. "The first of the Indian Wars in Connecticut was the Pequot War which began in May 1639, in a swamp flat which is now in the village of Southport in the Town of Fairfield. There were at the time in the Housatonic River Valley from Long Island Sound Northward, between two and three thousand Indians.

The 442nd Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment of the United States Army. The regiment is best known as the most decorated in U.S. military history and as a fighting unit composed almost entirely of second-generation American soldiers of Japanese ancestry (Nisei) who fought in World War II. The 442nd Regiment is the most decorated unit for its size in U.S. military history The 442nd lives on through the 100th Battalion/442nd Infantry Regiment, and is the only current infantry formation in the Army Reserve.
