Oban Harbour And Town Oban is a resort town within the Argyll and Bute council area of Scotland. Despite its small size, it is the largest town between Helensburgh and Fort William. During the tourist season, the town can have a temporary population of up to over 24,000 people. Oban occupies a setting in the Firth of Lorn. The bay forms a near perfect horseshoe, protected by the island of Kerrera; and beyond Kerrera, the Isle of Mull. Having declined in importance since Victorian times, it is now developing as a holiday and cultural centre and the harbour is now home to fishing boats and yachts.

Within the quaint town of Ogunquit, Maine is the harbor, Perkins Cove. The cove is a popular tourist destination and a safe harbor for fishing and pleasure boats. Besides a home for boats Perkins Cove has a large art community. Stately homes, galleries, restaurants and gift shops surround this beautiful seaport.

Essaouira is a fishing port on the coast of Morocco. The old town, seen in the image, is protected by 18th century fortifications designed and built by the French architect who designed St Malo in Brittany, These cannon lined ramparts were built to protect the old town or Medina which has been a world heritage site since 2001. The harbour beneath the walls is packed with both colourful small fishing boats and larger deep sea vessels.

In the heart of Whidbey Island, the red Coupeville Wharf is a charming and historic destination. Originally built around 1900 as a grain wharf, this lovely pier and red building currently houses a coffee shop, restaurants, kayak rental, marine services, gift stores, and a museum.
