Labrys, a double-headed axe that's closely associated with the Minoan civilisation, and specifically with the worship of a goddess. In Crete, the symbol always accompanies female deities and may have been the symbol of their creator Goddess. It may also be interpreted as a butterfly relating to the Minoan butterfly goddesses shown in the shape of a labrys. According to some archaeologists, it was used by Minoan priestesses for ceremonies. Since the 1970s, it's been used as a symbol of independence and self-sufficiency, and strength among feminists and lesbians.The background was created by letting the colors spread under plastic wrap.

The labrys is superimposed within an inverted black triangle rooted in Nazi Germany. Similar to the pink triangle design, the black triangle was used in concentration camps to designate prisoners with anti-social behavior, which included lesbians.
