I was on my first visit to Utah; it was my first day. On the agenda was a visit to Dead Horse Point State Park Looking out over the cliff and down into the valley was this stunning introduction to the extraordinary landscape. The scale and the colour in the panorama were truly breathtaking. This image is a composite of several images captured from the end of the point, taking in perhaps 120° of view. I suppose I didn't know where to stop as I scanned the horizon with my camera. Even the Colorado River sneaks in there. The term 'awe-inspiring' barely covers the emotion.

Taken just before sunset on January 24, 2017, this image tells a story of the day at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Snow squalls like this had passed through all day, sometimes obscuring the entire view of the canyon. I was lucky this storm had passed just north of us, allowing the sun to peak beneath the clouds and light up the North Rim. This was shot from the South Rim Trail overlook near Yavapi Point. I'd been there about one and a half hours taking panoramas in the freezing cold. When I started to leave, it was difficult to move. My pants had frozen below the knee, into tubes. They'd gotten wet from going up and down the trail all day, in and out of the snow, and froze because I'd been standing so long without moving. Th...

Hartland is a rocky outcrop of land on the north-western tip of the Devon coast in England. Hartland marks the western limit (on the English side) of the Bristol Channel with the Atlantic Ocean continuing to the west. This location was known to the Romans as the "promontory of Hercules".
