So, growing up I knew of two different famous men with the same name. Mike Myers, the comedian and actor best known for "Wayne's World" and ,of course, the "Austin Powers" movies. Then, there is Michael Myers, the serial killer in the "Halloween" movies. When I first saw a Halloween VHS tape with the name Michael Myers on it as a kid, I was confused for a few seconds. I thought, "Does Mr. Myers have a night job I don't know about? I thought he was a comedic actor." Well, I found out they were two completely different people. One is fictional and the other is not. It can be a woodcut, lino, collagraph, etching, aquatint, drypoint and many more. The matrix is commonly not shown at all and usually shelved somewhere. Digitized linocut print in black

This is a Woodcut Print. I have originally inked up the wood before I started cutting it. I rolled around 20 plates with different colours. This sets up the background colours. The following week I took the same piece of wood and started carving out the picture of the flowers and the birds. Inked up the plate and placed it over the already dry colour pieces of paper. The end result is about 20 prints, all of which are unique and different. The prints are printed on University Paper with blue denim ink. Printmaking can get messy. One moment you are carving your piece into a woodblock and the next your thumb is lying on the floor.

Techno 3 is my third in a series of individual monotype prints with technology, industry and steam punk as the main themes. Each was created using a gelli plate and hand pulled to produce one original monotype print and one ghost print. I chose to print in blue as I had in mind the colour of architectural drawings like blueprints.

Collagraph Print Works on Paper (Hahnemuhle) This work depicts a local footy oval at the school of St. Thomas More, which is a gorgeous footy field that over looks the Bay and Melbourne Australia.

Two plates Zinc plate inked up in a mix of colours. Second plate rolled leaves from the garden, which bring their own colour to the print when mixed with the ink on the plate. The chance print came out beautiful. Mmmmmm, now what to do with it. I have an idea. Stay tuned...... Monoprint on Stonehenge paper. On top of which I have drawn pastels. I know the pastels come through the strongest but it is actually a monoprint which I thought needed more colour.
