Saint Genevieve Kids T-Shirts

Saint Genevieve is the matron saint against epidemics and plagues! When she was seven years old, Genevieve met Saint Germanus of Auxerre on his way to England. Germain befriended her because of her insistence on wanting to live her life for God, and prophesied her future sanctity. She took the veil at age 15. Prophesied invasions and disasters for Paris. Could read consciences and calm the possessed. When Paris was besieged by the Franks, she encouraged its defense, organized prayers for God‘s protection of the city, and led an expedition for food to relieve the siege. Caused a church to be built on the tomb of Saint Denis. In 1129, the procession of her relics through Paris is believed to have ended an epidemic.

This is an image of St. Genevieve, the Patron Saint of Paris (in the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox traditions). Her feast day is kept on January the 3rd. The statue is situated on Pont de la Tournelle in Paris. The sculpture is perhaps one of the most important symbols of Paris. Born in 423 in Nanterre, Genevieve was the daughter of a city magistrate. Fervent believer from an early age, she recovered after her father’s death and moved to Paris. When she was 20, she was ordered by the Bishop of Paris a “Consecrated Virgin”. In 451, Attila and the Huns crossed the Rhine to invade Gaul. They plundered Metz, Reims, and headed to Paris. Parisians, scared by the legend of the barbarian warrior, decided to leave the city. In the foreground you can see the column (statue) of St. Genevieve, the Patron Saint of Paris.
