The group was at Fort Riley, Kansas as the 108th Artillery Group and deployed to the Republic of Vietnam in October 1967. The Group participated in every major operation conducted in the I Corps area of operations and credited with participation in eleven different campaigns while in Vietnam. The Group notably supported the Operation Lam Son 719 raid into Laos during February–March 1971. For its service it was awarded the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. The 108th departed from Vietnam on 22 November 1971 for Fort Lewis, Washington, where the unit was again inactivated.

The 6th Battalion 33rd Artillery was reactivated on 1 September 1967 at Ft. Carson, Colorado. The battalion sailed towards Vietnam aboard the USNS Upshur arriving at Red Beach, DaNang on 21 February 1968. The battalion’s first round in Vietnam was fired by C Battery on 28 February 1968 from Marine Camp Brooks in support of the 1st Marine Division. On 4 March 1968 the battalion deployed to LZ Sharon near Quang Tri. The battalion fired its 100,000th round in Vietnam on 28 July 1968, 157 days after arriving in country. In November 1968 the battalion headquarters elements displaced from LZ Sharon to Phu Bai. The Battalion served in Vietnam for more than 2 years.
