Operation Fortitude was the code name for a World War II military deception employed by the Allied nations as part of an overall deception strategy (code named Bodyguard) during the build-up to the 1944 Normandy landings. Fortitude was divided into two sub-plans, North and South, with the aim of misleading the German high command as to the location of the invasion.

WWII leaflet dropped on Japanese occupied Philippines warning the population that the Allied invasion will begin soon. The reverse of the leaflet had instructions for the Filipinos to stay away from all Japanese held positions and to move as far inland as possible. The design is available in white or deep blue. WWII Japanese propaganda intended for Australians. The print titled and captioned " The Spectre Commands: Thous shalt go, Americans, and eat the Australians out of their homes, if necessary..... The Americans will fight to the last Australian ". The print depicts FDR as the " Spectre " or grim reaper like figure and having driven a flag pole through the body of an Australian soldier.

Late 1945 Allied propaganda leaflet dropped over China. Such leaflets informed Chinese citizens what an American pilot looked like, his uniform and so on. It also asked the Chinese to assist any downed flyer they might find in need of help.

Civilized Soldier

In October 1940, Maj. David Schlatter, of the U.S. Army Air Corps, surveyed several areas in Utah, Arizona and Nevada looking for a site to locate the first flexible aerial gunnery school. He was particularly interested in Nevada since about 90 percent of the area north, northwest and northeast of Las Vegas was desert wasteland. On Jan. 25, 1941, Las Vegas Mayor John L. Russell signed over the property to the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps for the development of the flexible gunnery school. The mission of the new school, the Las Vegas Army Air Corps Gunnery School (located on the new Las Vegas Army Air Field), was defined as "training of aerial gunners to the degree of proficiency that will qualify them for combat duty."

The Lockheed P-38 Lightning is an American single seated, piston-engined fighter aircraft that was used during World War II. Developed for the United States Army Air Corps, the P-38 had distinctive twin booms and a central nacelle containing the cockpit and armament. Allied propaganda claimed it had been nicknamed the fork-tailed devil (German: der Gabelschwanz-Teufel) by the Luftwaffe and "two planes, one pilot" by the Japanese. Along with its use as a general fighter, the P-38 was utilized in various aerial combat roles including as a highly effective fighter-bomber, a night fighter, and as a long-range escort fighter when equipped with drop tanks.
