The 45th Fires Brigade is a modular field artillery brigade of the United States Army headquartered in Mustang, Oklahoma. It is a part of the Oklahoma Army National Guard. The unit was again redesignated 45th Fires Brigade in 2008 with the implementation of Army Transformation. Just as the 45th IBCT and the 90th Troop Command, the brigade retained the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 45th Infantry Division, only designing and approving its own SSI in 1997.

The 196th Field Artillery Brigade, Tennessee Army National Guard, organized with battalions from Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia, received the alert notification on 3 December 1990, and entered federal active duty on 9 December 1990. Scarlet and yellow are the colors traditionally used by Field Artillery. The field piece is adapted from the Field Artillery insignia of branch. The scarlet indented bar divides the background into two sections denoting military preparedness on all fronts. The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 17 December 1997, consisting of a black arrowhead bearing a gold fleur-de-lis and flanked by two gold field pieces conjoined at top and all enclosed in base by a red wavy scroll inscribed "TO THE GUNS" in gold. Scarlet and yellow/gold are the colors traditionally used by artillery.

On 16 September 1941, the 45th Infantry Division was federalized from state control into the regular army force. It was one of four National Guard divisions to be federalized, Assigned to the division were the 158th, 160th, 171st, and 189th Field Artillery Battalions. On 1 September 1950, the 45th Infantry Division was activated as the first National Guard division to be deployed to Korean War.
