Red-lored Amazon, Amazona autumnalis, and Southern Mealy Amazon, Amazona farinosa. These parrots are brightly coloured and clever, and so they have been taken from the wild as pets and thus their population has been dealt hard blows in the past. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora treaty has made the capture of wild parrots for the pet trade illegal in an attempt to help protect wild populations.
