Cistus × purpureus AGM Purple-flowered rock rose

Loathed in the Iberian peninsula and considered a weed because it so aggressively takes over farmland but much loved by tourists for its beautiful white flowers, the gum rockrose (Cistus ladanifer, esteva in Portuguese) is definitely photogenic. Here I played with two photos of the plant I took in the Algarve and a distressed background texture. Canon EOS 60D DSLR, Corel PSPX

This began as a photo of a colorful pink rock rose blooming in the garden, and was digitally enhanced to create a painterly type floral with an abstract background and interesting texture.

A crinkly, paper-like white rockrose flower native to south-west Portugal. The leaves of the shrub are glossy, green and sticky. The plant is volatile and burns easily. Cistus libanotis: "The epithet libanotis was the word used for rosemary by Pliny" (wiki). Thusly, an excellent way to remember Portugal!
