A great design for anyone tackling the four peaks challenge aka the Copper Hills challenge!

This is a stack of 92 images combined to show the path of the stars as they rose over the mittens and Merrick Butte in Monument Valley, Arizona. The time span for the complete sequence was an hour. The red glow in the distance is, I believe, the lights of Bluff, Utah. The star cluster over the red glow, between the East Mitten and West Mitten, is Pleiades, also known as M45.

Monument Valley is a Navajo Tribal Park in Arizona.

Monument Valley provides perhaps the most enduring and definitive images of the American West. The isolated red mesas and buttes surrounded by an empty, sandy desert have been filmed and photographed countless times over the years for movies, adverts, and holiday brochures. This is what you see at North Window View in Monument Valley, looking between Merrick Butte (left) and the East Mitten (right). This was taken on a cold day in December, 2013. It had snowed the night before.
