Having no innate superpowers, he instead uses a mask to scare criminals. Trent would use his position to learn of crimes and catch those behind them as The Face!

Newspaper photographer "Lens" Crockett stumbled on a case and got beaten up by the crooks. Vowing revenge, he found a fancy dress costume in the newspaper office stock room and used it to fight crime as the Night Bird. He had no powers but he had a good right hook.

The Sorceress of Zoom was the ruler of the magical cloud city of Zoom. The city could appear, disappear and travel through the sky at her whim. Her subjects, within the city, were monsters magically created by her from the remains of those who were killed in her raids on earthbound cities. Her ultimate goal was world domination. She briefly reformed and helped to fight the Axis, but the Sorceress quickly returned to her wicked ways and her mad quest for power.

The Bouncer was originally a statue of the Greek mythology figure Antaeus created by a sculptor named Adam Anteas Jr. The artist was a descendant of Antaeus. The statue however was not normal. In fact whenever danger was near, it came to life. The living statue gave Adam superpowers of super strength and leaping, which it also possessed. Like the mythical Antaeus, Adam and the statue are both vulnerable in mid-bounce.

John Doyle was a lawyer framed by crooked politicians and then sent to jail for crimes he didn't commit. He manages to break out by taking the keys off a security guard he knocks out. Once out of jail, he clears his name and then then keeps the his prison uniform as his superhero costume and decides to continue fighting crime as the Zebra. While he has no powers, the Zebra is skilled in combat. The Zebra fought villains such as Dr. Diabole, Ego, Bale, the Rattler, the Human Frog, and Dr. Anteater.

Pat Parker, also known as War Nurse, formed an all-girl team known as the Girl Commandos. The original members included Pat Parker in her War Nurse identity, Ellen Billings, Pat's friend, Tanya, an "official Soviet photographer", and Penelope "Penny" Kirt, an American radio reporter. Mei-Ling, a Chinese woman, joined the team during their first adventure in order to avenge her family's death at the hands of the Japanese army. After their first adventure, Pat Parker dropped her War Nurse identity and began adventuring under her real name.

Captain Flight was a heroic freelance adventurer and American pilot who fought the Axis during WWII. Later, the Captain becomes a member of the Doom Squad, a group of aviators who pilot planes with cutting-edge technology.

Space pilot Vince Darrow overhears another pilot mention the Asteroid Witch, whom he described as the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen. Deciding he needed to find her for himself, Vince goes to the rocketport and steals a space liner. The Interplanetary Patrol goes after him. Vince comes to his senses and plans to turn himself in. The villainess Asteroid Witch shows up, and bewitches him to continue on to meet her. Vince crashes into an asteroid. He gets out of the wreckage and continues his search. He is entirely enthralled and about to kiss her when the voice of Kit-E, a Martian maiden stops him. Kit-E has her "atom-blast pistol" trained on the witch. She sends the Asteroid Witch to another dimension.

The Blue Streak was called a "Defender of the People" and the "self-appointed foe of ruthless dictators." His sidekick was his chauffeur and friend, Tago. Blue Streak had no superpowers but was a skilled fighter and wore a bulletproof vest under his costume.

Susie Conner has had it with these awful young men.

The Duke of Darkness was Paddy Sullivan, a police officer from an unnamed American city. When he died in the line of duty, it was discovered that he continued to exist as an "Earth-bound spirit." He decided to continue fighting crime as the Duke of Darkness. His powers include intangibility, flight, super strength, and the ability to perceive and battle ghosts and demons.

Yarko the Great was a talented stage magician but, secretly, also a real mage. Using his vast magical abilities, he battled criminals and supernatural forces. Yarko possessed force field projection, duplication, shape-shifting, invisibility, intangibility, exorcism, telekinesis, levitation, and whatever else the plot required.

Dressed to blend in with the legion of homeless wandering the streets, Daily Times reporter Jay Garson, Jr. was in reality the city's foremost avenger The Ragman. In the course of his crusade The Ragman wore a bulletproof vest beneath his tatters and wielded guns when necessary. Aided by Tiny his loyal assistant, he fought against such villains as Stinger and The Ghost in his efforts to clean up the city.

John Fearless VI was a Boston Brahmin who, while strolling through a cemetery in Boston, encountered the spirit of his ancestor, the first John Fearless, a soldier who fought valiantly during the American Revolution. The original Fearless tells his descendant that he is needed to fight Axis subversion and evil in America, and then gives Captain Fearless a costume and a magic horn to help him. He has no superpowers, but his horn can summon up his ancestor for assistance.

Zoro - The Mystery Man was a man who tried to satisfy his thirst for adventure, by taking on injustice. Eventually, his services were sought out by those in need of help. Most of his adventures seemed to take place on the East Coast of the United States, but others took him around the world. At one point, he even saved the Dali Lama.

Roger's father Henry Chalmers once saved the chief of the African Mountain Men from a jungle beast. The chief was grateful and promised to give Chalmers the "enchanted dagger". However he ends up dying several years later, so his son Roger travels to the jungle and found the tribe. He was then given the dagger promised to his father so many years ago. Chalmers found the dagger eerie, but kept the blade which had the following inscribed on it: "The true owner shall forever be immune to it's great powers". He decides to become a crime fighter called Enchanted Dagger and fights criminals in Washington, DC once he returns to the States.

El Carim was a master of the mystical arts. He was visited by the spirit of Wizzar, the father of all magic, who gives him a magic cloak. He uses his cloak and backwards-recited magic to fight criminals and evildoers assisted by the lovely Gladys. El Carim spelled backwards is "Miracle."

Kay, a morning newscaster of “Breakfast With Kay,” turned into the crime-fighter Magga the Magnificent when she uttered the phrase “om mani padme hum,” which was also used by Green Lama to invoke his powers. As Magga the Magnificent, Kay possessed the powers of flight and super-strength. In her first and only comic appearance, she helped a woman gain her inheritance.

Jeffrey Scott was a fencing instructor at Versailles, a spy, and the legendary privateer, the Black Buccaneer. He traveled the seas in his black ship, the Raven. He was helped by his friend Boris and sometimes by his brother Ronnie.

D-13, Richard Anthony, was an American spy who traveled the world solving international problems and protecting the US from foreign threats with help from his partner Robert Simms.

Lucky Wings was a plucky girl reporter who single-handedly took on Axis spies, ghouls, and, in one case, gangsters who had gotten a hold of a device that let them take control of atoms causing buildings to crumble, and cars to race out of control as if they had minds of their own. Lucky could fly small aircraft and went undercover as a lounge singer.

Baron Povalsky was a Polish nobleman who, following the German invasion of his country, became a one-man resistance fighter. He created two new identities, the first was Major Hurtz, which he used to spy on the Nazis from the inside, and the second was the Marksman. As the Marksman, Povalsky fought the Germans using his archery skills while wearing a red hood. Only old Vorka, his faithful manservant, knew the Baron's secret identity. Marksman operated from a small hidden room in a tower. His enemies included the Crossbow and Fraulein Halunke.

One day, Jake Miles is run down by an automobile and brought into Rance Raleigh's curio shop where he tries unsuccessfully to tell Rance something and then dies. But Rance's assistant Rocky sees the ancestral portrait of the Duke De Chantrey frown and Rance knows its time to go into action as the Cavalier. The Cavalier has no powers other than superlative swordsmanship, acrobatics and derring-do.

Butterfly was the first African-American superheroine in comics. The Hell-Rider issues were mature-audience magazines not covered by comic books' Comics Code Authority. Outfitted with a jetpack for flying and a costume laden with incredibly bright strobe lights to blind her enemies, Marian Michaels is a Las Vegas cabaret singer by night and the crime-fighting Butterfly by even later night. In her first appearance, she investigates the Claw, a group of cat costume-wearing heroin dealers who are using their profits to build a fascist army out in the desert. She often worked with Hell-Rider and Julie Storm.

Nobody suspected that Lady Luck was actually Brenda Banks, a "debutante crime buster bored with social life" who decided to become a "modern lady Robin Hood." Her costume was not that of a traditional comic book vigilante; It was an emerald green gown, a green hat, and a green silk veil that hung over her face to disguise her identity. She solved blackmail cases, spy cases, kidnappings, and any other cases that came her way. As Brenda Banks, she was in love with Police Chief Hardy Moore; ironically, Moore's job was to bring in Lady Luck. Brenda's brawny Italian chauffeur Peecolo served as Lady Luck's assistant.

Typhon was an adventurer and inventor who commanded numerous submarines with the help of his crew. He also possessed a "charm-dispelling ring that had been handed down to him from ancient times." His enemies included the Ruler of the Underseas and his serpents as well as Mikal and his Sea Demons. While battling Mikal, Typhon became allies with Queen Mea, the ruler of an undersea kingdom of Sea Amazons called Mermea.

A Venusian man who would become known as Sub-Zero was a part of an expedition that was launched to establish first contact with Earth. Before the spaceship could enter Earth's atmosphere, it passed through a comet. Everything inside was frozen. One crewman managed to survive, but the exposure turned him into a living ice man that froze everything he touched. He escaped the craft while covered in ice and then made his way to the nearest building. The building happened to be full of scientists experimenting with "gamma radiation." They used the gamma rays to return him to his original humanoid form, though his ability to freeze objects remained.

Captain Courageous is a supernatural being, a "Spirit of Courage" that appeared when brave men and women ask for courage. During World War II, Captain Courageous responded to Americans' pleas and appeared to help the Allies. He had super strength, flight, limited invulnerability, and could survive unaided underwater.
